                      AUGUST, 2010
We are past the halfway mark in 2010 and what a year it has been! My book is well underway and I am taking a break from writing today to write this newsletter. My Donnie would tell you I am at an undisclosed location hiding away to finish my book. But, since I posted on Facebook that I am in Colorado at my nephew Everett’s house I guess the secret is out, OOPS!

For several weeks I had been praying and searching for a place to get away to finish my book and one morning during my time with the Lord He placed Everetts’s beautiful home in my mind’s eye. His house sits on six acres in the country southeast of Denver. As soon as I saw it, I thought, “Yes, of course! Why did I not think of this sooner?”

Everett, you could say, is my “first born” and we have always been very close. I was eleven years old when he was born, so he made the perfect dress up dolly. As he grew we became buds and were inseparable. I took that kid everywhere with me, until one day to my devastation he discovered girls! That was over twenty years ago and much to our surprise Everett is still single. He is choosy about the woman he will spend the rest of his life with, but when he does find “the one” she will be a very blessed lady.

So here I am in Colorado, I have to pinch myself to believe it. I am secluded, yet surrounded with such beauty. And while the rest of my friends and family in Texas, California and Arizona are melting in the summer heat, well, I am a bit chilly at times. HA, I love it! Here is my plan; I am here until my book is finished. I have no return ticket, so I have been telling people - if you ever want me back in the loving arms of My Donnie – PRAY!

Seriously, my goal is to complete the book by Labor Day weekend. And on September 8 of this year, Donnie and I are flying to the islands of Antigua/Barbuda where the murder of my parents took place. The reason for our trip there is twofold. We want to revisit some of the wonderful people we met during the trial, and to find Donaldson, one of the three men who was tried and convicted of the murders of my parents. This information and experience should offer the epilogue for my book.

During the trial God gave me His compassion for Donaldson and after the trial I went to the prison and met with him. We talked for a long time about many things and then before I left we took hands and prayed together. Donaldson and I corresponded for a few years until one day several years ago his letters stopped coming. I am going back to look for him, to find out what has happened to him and to see what path his life is on now. I have always said Antigua/Barbuda is a very beautiful place where something very bad happened. My heart is to portray this in my book and the best way to do that is to go back and refresh my faded memories. Upon my return from Antigua I will undoubtedly revisit a few chapters as well as write my epilogue. Then it is off to the editor, and after all editing is complete my manuscript goes to the printer. That is when my book, "Bound to a Promise," will become a reality and no longer a dream!

For all you who are praying me through this and to those who have pre-bought the book at my conferences this year, thank you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart and I know God knows you by name and I am asking Him to bless you in ways that only He can!
