White’s Chapel
Mid Summer Brunch

I have to start this memoir out by saying, “What a beautiful church!”  The event was actually held in the fellowship area, but after the brunch Judy, the Director of Women’s Ministries, took me on a tour.  I loved the huge sanctuary and how they have maintained the small chapel feel and look!

Donnie wasn’t able to accompany me this time, so our Sissy Lou (OK, her name is Bethany) traveled with me.  Sis is 17 and she loved this event and the people as much as I did!

Early on we were introduced to our 2 volunteers, Betty Lou and Debbie.  They were wonderful and a huge help to Sissy!   I was able to have some one-on-one time with Betty Lou during brunch and discovered we were both from California and not native Texans.  It always blesses me to hear how much someone loves their home church and Betty Lou definitely does!  Having only been a member of White’s Chapel for a relatively short period of time, she said one thing in particular that stood out to me...she describes her church as one that meets the “whole” need of a person, the physical and emotional as well as the spiritual.  She says there are ministries available to the congregation that meet their every need!

Now, I would like to say I had some quality time with Debbie, but I can’t, because I couldn’t pry her away from serving at my table!  What a Go-Getter she is with such a contagious joy about her. My Donnie missed a wonderful time behind the table this day!  Thank you both for sharing your servant’s hearts with me!

I always ask the Lord to make every message uniquely personal and He did just that by prompting me to add in, “Rest is NOT an Option, it is a Command!”  I did this by saying, “Okay, I have just taught on, “Choosing Not to be Offended,” so now I am going to speak on something where I think you might get the opportunity to put that lesson into practice.”

What I found was a group of ladies who not only love hearing Truth but that the Truth about “rest” had just been preached by their Pastor the Sunday before!  How cool is that?  Though I knew I had heard from the Lord the night before about adding in “Rest is Not an Option…” I had my concerns!  However, when I heard the confirmation that “rest” was a word God had already been speaking to White’s Chapel, I was very excited and as I always love to say, “Serving God is SO exciting!”

My time afterwards proved to be just as great as the main event, because several of you stayed and I got the opportunity to pray and speak with you…oh yes and laugh too!  Thank you Judy for inviting me to come, your love for the Lord and the women of White’s Chapel is evident in all you do!
